Does anyone have a working 6v coil nearish Northamptonshire?

I've been trying to get the 356 to start this morning and I measured the resistance between+ and - at > 2 ohms. According to Bruce It should be 1 to 1.2

My share coil had the same resistance and the car didn't start with it swapped.

Anyone got a working one I can test/use. Happy to drive Image

Might have a 6v coil from a Karmann Ghia in Derbyshire.

Hi Neil,

Sorry, I don't think I have a spare coil, but remember to subtract the multimeter lead resistance (probes shorted) when measuring your coil. This is always important when trying to measure low resistance values.

Note, even if resistance now seems ok, there could still be an insulation fault within the coil.

Good luck

Issue found. Not the coil but a loose wire into the cdi unit
