I worked in the CAD/CAM industry 30 years ago and it was called stereolithography and due to the high cost of the software and hardware it was only in the realm of F1 teams and aerospace companies. It's amazing how both are now just consumer products!

Another design & print.
Needs a slight revision as the air filter base plate has to be removable for access to fixing hardware. It was going to be bonded on.

Poor layer adhesion. Either the printing temp was too low or the cooling fan running to high. Looks like it was printed with 100% infill which would be the right setting but the mounting flange shouldn’t have been brittle. Although if you torque down hard enough on plastic it will crush.

If I need to apply a decent clamping force with hardware, I’ll sleeve the bolt hole with a stainless insert, like this.

Sorry missed your question.
It’s a non Porsche project. VW Type1 engine running Honda motorbike throttle bodies and open-source ECU kit. Work in progress prototype at the moment.

Small update.

This is now on the road & I’ve been tuning it. Fairly happy so far although the rebuilt engine is still being run in (not gently!). It’s Honda CBR throttle bodies / injectors/ fuel rails, with a load of 3D printed parts to make it fit, with a speeduino ECU.

Another small design.
The OE centre caps don’t fit over the spindle nut so I needed a design with clearance underneath.

You can see the nut problem here.

Few measurements & a bit of cad ..

Wheels will be refurbished & probably in black so it should do the job.

Bruce what 3D printer do you have?

Creality Ender3 V2. With 2 upgrades, the Creality “touch” probe which maps the surface of the bed to allow for imperfect level and the Creality “spider” HotEnd which can be run at a higher temp for the Nylon filament.
It’s definitely hobby grade & needs careful setup. It’s has a well supported community however so most problems can be sorted with a google.

Newer machines are now pushing towards plug&go user experience. For example the Bambu X1 carbon has been well received, but that has pushed up the price point too.
