Some more facts I've learned recently:

Michelin classic brands (XWX, XAS, XVS, etc) are made in Serbia (outside the EU)

Pirelli (CA67, CN36, P7, etc) are made in Turkey (outside the EU)

Apparently, a tube is available in size 215/60x15

Dunlop Sport Classic comes with an EU label because this tyre is not an old design as it was introduced recently. I've yet to receive a reply from Dunlop about the dimensions and where is it made.

All the others (not sure about Avon CR6ZZ) are exempt from EU labelling because they were first introduced decades ago.

Dunlop Racing L and M sections CR65 (Cross-Ply) are road legal if the diameter is 15-inch or larger but I've been told they don't last long (on the track I would think).


Surprisingly, "cheap" Dunlop Blue Response are made in Germany:

I know nobody wants to know but I'm just saying - the Dunlop Sport Classic are made in France. Both sizes (185/70 and 215/60) are marked N0 on the sidewall (homologated by Porsche).

I found this picture that you posted years ago on the ESR forum but it's not same as the ebay link you posted recently. Do you remember where you got this 'fat' valve from? Nobody can seem to find them anymore, not even Harvey Weidman.

Checked all the obvious places in my garage but drew a blank I'm afraid.

The last couple of times I bought the 'stubby' TR 415's was via ebay - sorry no other details.

I've tried Dill Tr-415 Tire Valve Stem TR415 but my tyre man was not happy with them. If you want to have a go I have lots just let me know.

I'm afraid thats life these days. i was Sad when Dunlop stopped making their historic tyres in the UK. Dunlop no longer make any proper historic road tyres. sadly the factory that currently makes the few proper historic road tyres with Dunlop written on them is the Avon factory that is shutting at the end of the year.

It is such a shame Dunlop didnt do it properly and make a proper period tyre, and whos idea was it to have "classic" written on the side? Doh!

Yep the CR6ZZ doesn't look right, but they do handle nicely on a classic car, because they have a carcass built with an understanding of the chassis set up they will be fitted to. Its a shame these are probably finished at the end of the year when the factory closes.

No the Dunlop Racing L and M sections are not road legal.
Is this too small, can you read it?

Just came across some pictures of a car fitted with 185/70x15 on the front, and 205/70x15 on the rear:

So, what do you think of the stance of that car? In case you didn't notice, the rears are 1" taller. Does the stance look OK or terrible? Does it look like a tractor?
