Had a good look at it about 18 months ago, an awful lot of work has been done to make a creditable replica of a fantastic car.

I worked with one of the builders, Dave Eaton, many years ago, and a bit later worked for him in a typical backstreet garage. He is a clever guy and has dedicated a lot of time and a a not insignificant sum in bringing this to the streets. He is now working on a flat 12.......

I like it a lot, from that vid the engineering looks very good. Just can't quite work out what you'd do with it. Quite hard to race and probably only good for odd trips on the road.

With a flat 12 it would be magnificent!

All fantasy though at the price!

I don't get the woo woo with this engine.

You aren't going into the void with the flat 12, they have already done the testing for you so you know it will work.
I know this sounds a little blazé, but there are people doing way more complicated and risky engine builds or castings to be poured today for mediocre cars or motorbikes that don't have a million dollar budgets.
The block is even in large open flat sections and split into two, held together with 911 parts.

I think the idea of driving a 917 on the road or at the track is off putting because should you damage it, you can't get spare parts as there was a finite number of them. The Mark Hales money shift with Dave Pipers 917 is what scares even the most ardent petrolhead.

Why go to all that trouble and not give it a flat fan?

To give some context, this is a mate who over the past year has been building a Bugatti T57 Grand Prix replica.
A video of it condensed into 4 minutes https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VJfkkJQCd18
