Anyone know of a good outlet for ARP or Raceware rod bolts for porsche's in the UK? I can only find one so far and there nearly double the price thay are in the states although I would profer to buy them in the UK if possible.

depending on what engine you are building you might be better off with the much cheaper flexi-steel OEM bolts and 928 nuts

Id rather pay the extra and have piece of mind as far as rod bolts on a 3.2 are concerned seen too many horror stories with rod bolt failures on these engines. Originally I did buy and install the oem bolts but have now thought better of it. Admittedly there proberbley not that nesessary as im only doing at stock rebuild but if I ever do want to increase the power later on with some modifications at least I will know my bottom end is upto it.

You could just get them sent over from the US, the package would not be very big.

Autofarm have a good network although after extensive discussions i opted to put carillo rods in my 2.2S for piece of mind at 8,500rpm

There's loads of material on this subject on the Pelican Parts forum and whilst opinions vary on suitable replacement items, very few suggest re-using dilivar studs.

Some are now recommending steel for top and bottom as it was the dilivar jobbies on the exhaust (bottom) side of the engine that caused the problem on later cars.

Others say to use 993 studs, but I though these were actually dilivar (albeit somehow modified)?

The earlier motors have steel studs top and bottom from the factory - do you actually need anything better if you are rebuilding stock?

I plan to use steel studs on my 2.4 rebuild, but I'm sure Colin Belton at Ninemeister in Warrington will have a UK source if you want to go down the Raceware or ARP route.

Steve - Carillo rods... £££ + £££ + £££, but sensible insurance for those heady rpms.

i almost cried when i learnt the price, but the US/£ exchange rate made a big difference. i was also conscious that building a big horsepower, high compression, high revving engine out of an old warhorse without something like Carillo's was just asking for trouble....

I'm not using Carillo rods in my 2.5 short-stroke twin-plug motor but I do have a set of these...

Bought some from http://www.part-box.co.uk/ in the end none of the cheaper stockists in the US responded to my requests for shipping quotes, while the few that did in the end with shipping and import tax it hardly made it worth it! partbox had them in and I will have them tmrw will finnaly be able to get my case back together this weekend
