Exhaust valve compression tool 1969 911 2.0.

Post by WRC_1S »

Hello. Anyone recommend a retailer to buy an exhaust valve spring compression tool for my 69 911 2.0? I see Rose Passion sell them. Wondered if anywhere else? Cheers. Wayne.

Can't help with where to buy the Porsche tool but never had any trouble using a generic sykes pickavant valve spring compressor.

Cheers

Thanks Chris. Having looked a bit more I think most generic valve spring compressors g clamp type will work. I think I just got a bit 911 paranoid having moved from VW air-cooled engines :-)

I use a super lightweight motorcycle set, £11 off ebay. Nice and easy.

Comes in a compact hard shell case, a variety of 'heads' and works well.
Used it on the tiny valves of my Honda 175 twin, and a the parachute size valves of my 911 3.2 heads shown.

Looks like you are sorted. If you’re coming from world of VW tools and see need for special tool the “real deal” factory tool is the P200 (its designed roughly along the lines if VW311h you might be familiar with). Like the somewhat similar P7 for 356 it is a bench tool with wood (or later metal base) with a bespoke shape to hold 911 heads in correct position to depresses the springs using a lever. Got an original one somewhere in storage. Rare and can be pricey when come up typically asking is high hundreds $. There is a later simpler version also I think a P200 but iirc it might have suffix (a?) to distinguish from the larger one — this one is a simple G shaped tool for single. Neither P200 really required as others have said a number of general tools like shown above can do job.

Thanks Steve I've bought one almost identical to Gary's above. My old one was ancient so this one's definitely more robust.
