Engine rain cover

Post by RobFrost »

Obviously none of us every drives in the rain, but if we did, what would keep the water off the engine? I saw a 912 today which had a rain cover under the grille. Is this standard equipment on pre impact bumper 911s? Mine has never had one since I owned it, and I've never had any problems.

I did have a mini 1275gt back in the day. Other owners will know the distributor is directly behind the front grille and standard aftermarket equipment to prevent loss of ignition during wet weather, was the lid of an ice cream tub cable tied to the grille directly in front.

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

thanks. Owner said "you've got to have that" but most cars get a wet engine no problem.
