The VIN is from a '65/'66 model but the V5 (which shows the swb VIN) states that the car was 'declared manufactured 1969'.
- & the engine 'number' shown on the V5 is the casting number from the fan housing ...

As KS says, the listing is at least honest on what it is.

It’s a 911. Of some form. I guess the price reflects the ambiguity.
Wouldn’t the absence of battery boxes, the depressions in the RH rear inner wing for the oil tank and the later box underneath make it a later shell?

I guess the way to legitimise it would be to present it to the DVLA and get a Q plate. But everyone would think it’s a Covin.
If it’s mechanically and structurally sound and doesn’t need £30k worth of fixing it would be a fun thing for the money. But cars like that are rarely well looked after. I bet it crunches into second, drops and breathes oil from everywhere, needs the brakes doing etc etc.

I assume it was incorrectly registered on import. I'd start by contacting DVLA to clear up the mistake. I had a really close look at this car because it's such great value and in case it was an early S, which I'd love to own and there's a slim chance this is one. But I decided against it because a) I have too many and nowhere to put it, and b) it looks horrendously rusty underneath. If you search the pics, the VIN is painted yellow in most of them but one photo appears to show they've since sanded the paint off to show it clearly, and the VIN appears to be a pre-1969 6-digit VIN - the 1359th 901/911/912 made I guess? It looks all correct and legit: 301359.
If you got a COA and confirmed the chassis number, etc. matched, and found out what the original engine was then you'd have a chance of re-registering at the correct year. DVLA are probably aware their processes were not 100% accurate back in the day when this was imported.
