Re: Die Garage der Schande
In actual fact I think this workbench is going to make room for the car so I reclaimed some of the top to make the ramps.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
Time for an update and it should become clear why the orange 911T has stalled for a while.
I cleared the 12 rolls of tissue and what not into the garage, but for two weeks or so now it's been replaced by the next bit of clutter that won't fit in the garage.
I'm not entirely sure why my missis tolerates the front hall being used as a staging post for items waiting to go in the garage.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
I selected this area for some storage to hopefully empty out the garage a bit, demolished the old shed, started digging footings by hand and filled the skip.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
Bricklaying on your own with no labourer is a painfully slow task, especially when you don't really know how to get it approaching plumb, square and level. So much work goes into setting up, getting a mix on, and cleaning up afterwards that you inevitably end up working long days to make the set up worthwhile.
I realised half-way through that my bubble was wonky in my spirit level, which was making the whole job a lot more difficult.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
While you lot were out gayly making snowmen and skipping around having snowball fights, real work was going on in Lichfield's icy cold.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
Tbh I did allow my slave labour a few minutes off for snowmen-making on a salary-sacrifice basis.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
It was a war against the elements to get the mortar to set anything near hard. I put buckets of hot water under the hessian to keep the temperature up.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
I suspected I'd ended up with something relatively square and level... Plumb? Not so much. The doorway's 15mm wider at the top than the bottom.
Pretty certain I succeeded in bamboozling the shed company with my crazy drawing. Combining millimetres with inches was my masterstroke.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
I got a groundworker I've used before to help me mix and pour the concrete base this weekend gone. Hard graft barrowing ballast up the top of the garden, mixing and raking out but we got it finished in time to get to the Lichfield Garrick Panto! Comes highly recommended. Is that Bootsy in the gold?
Had a shower before the panto though and somehow I managed to put my back out putting my socks on. Ive spent the days since, walking around doubled over like Yoda. Seems to be on the mend now though.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
Well they turned up today and I have to say there must have been some divine intervention because somehow it fits!
Well done to Timberlux buildings in Cannock for making sense of my design and they come highly recommended.
£1,900 for a 16ft by 8ft shed in quality, 22mm tanalised pine. Came felted and installed.
Now I look forward to the next stage... filling it with clutter in order to make room for ever more new clutter in the garage. Er, I mean clearing the garage out to make room for a Porsche and never to be cluttered again.

Looks good Rob. How you have managed that well working!

I previously nicked wood from the top of this workbench to make low rise car ramps.

Re: Die Garage der Schande
...knowing I would demolish it altogether (done today) to make room for something tighter to the wall, and with better storage. Alongside here is where i plan to park the car so it'll be better if it's more spacious.
Should probably fix those sockets on the wall properly.
