I think they're reasonably priced - unfortunately I don't know how much it's going to cost!!

About 6 months ago I had them do me a quote for a full respray.

There will be extra work involved because of the backdate, but not a massive amount - the original wings & front bumper were knackered anyway so would have needed replacement or repair; the glass and window surrounds would have come out anyway but the difference is they'll be replacing them with different items that I supply them with.

I've got a couple more photos from earlier today

Here's the welded repair to the bit next to the rear window

Oh and they've now removed the rear bumper - it's all looking a bit messy at the moment.....

Ok, ta. I may have found one more locally but I haven`t seen it yet, so still interested - our cars look pretty similar at this stage!

Hi Jean,

You have a PM with detailed pics of the rear bumper - didn't want to clutter this post up with too many details bumper pics (rivetting though they are..)

Have you thought about GRP bumpers? Don't know if anyone does them but you'd save quite a bit of weight which has got to have a good effect on your performance & handling (& maybe the car's too). I was surprised how much the rear bumper weighed - & that's without the big rams that they mount on.

Our cars do look alike. I appear to have more cardboard though.

More progress - it's a bit at a time now though.

The main thing is Simon's been working on is shaping up new pieces to go forward of the rear arches, and surrounding the torsion bar hole. Firstly there's some corrosion in there which he's going to cut out and secondly the torsion bar cover is a mess on the G50 box cars as they are intended to be covered by the sill covers. I want these to look like the early cars so Simon is making up new pieces to do just that - he's got the discs themselves off Porsche and is using them as a template.

Here is the bit he's going to cut out

And here are the two pieces he's knocked up to replace the cutout - at the moment the disc is just bolted to the repair section - he will cut the hole in it and bevel the edge

Today I've been in and collected the wheels and any other bits I won't need ready to sell them at Husborne - have only just finished loading the car up (I was putting these photos up and remembered I'd left the rear bumper in the back garden - just had fun trying to fit that into a car that was already full.

Looks like the bodyshop is pretty good and taking real care of the detail over your pride and joy.

No jean I've still got the grill. The good news is I also bought a chrome/alu one myself, so I'm looking to sell the black one.

I do need to work out how to fit the chrome one - it's only got holes at the moment.

Hot66 - I still like Orange but the wife just can't see it. Yes I'm going to run 7's and 8's - these are currently being refurbed by Biagio and should be ready in about 3 weeks time

Ian - Yes - I was selling in the far LH corner. It would be good to have some sort of DDK badge that could also have your name in it too - or is that too sad for words?

Moved on a bit further but hit a couple of snags

Firstly Simon has fitted one of the new panels he made up (around the torsion bar hole) but unfortunately the hole doesn't line up with the bar

You can't see it from this pic but believe me it doesn't line up - if you slide the bar out it will hit the body work. I've let him know this - as you can imagine it was a bit disappointing after he's spent ages putting the thing on. Anyway he's working on a solution at the moment.

The second problem is around the fitting of the rear bumper. On previous articles I've read about this (e.g. KS's baboon) he said they just bolt on.

However here is a pics of the rear bumper fitting

and here is a pics of the bracket left by the old impact bumper

We can't see an obvious place to cut metal away - has anyone got any experience or ideas in relation to this?

I've posted the above as separate requests for help on the 911 forum but it's relevant here too.

Hope these pictures help (1970 911) bumper bolts go upwards into two holes on the underside of the car.
