OT: Fiat/Lancia paint code help

Post by gridgway »

I have a reynard single seater that the PO who restored it, did it as a Niki Lauda Parmalat thing (parmalat brabham). The paint was 3 colours, red, dark blue and light blue. I am trying to match the dark blue (within reason) to get a rattle can made to paint a small area. Here's the nose section showing the dark blue...

I have three small pots with the paints in and the dark blue one says "Fiat Blue Lancia" and has a number 75 on it. I can't find anything like that on the internet and tried one colour blue which is way lighter!

Is there anyone who has knowledge of Fiat/Lancia paint codes of probably the late 70's?

I can check our scheme Graham to see if anything resembles code 75, failing that you could take that panel to a supplier who can mix a formulation to match.

Thanks Darren. One theory I have is part of the code has been wiped off, so it could be 175 or 275 etc.

And to add I would take it to someone to match, but I'm super locked down at the moment with Mrs R being a super sickie!

Those chaps that do smart repairs from a van also have paint analysing equipment and will paint it for you for not a lot...

I had an entire tailgate down in a Pearl colour on a daily a few years ago for about £100

Hi Graham,

Had a look through our samples and it would seem your paint code has a digit missing, there's dozens of blues and nothing obvious I'm afraid.

We could have something formulated with a sample as I mentioned and Wayne's suggestion might be a good option too?

Shout if I can help further.

Thanks Darren for looking, you are very likely right about the missing digit.

There are three colours involved. This dark blue one which is x75 or 75x. I think on the pot there is a slight smudge at the front of the two digits, so poss x75.
A light blue which is Fiat 767 on the touch up pot which comes up on the internet as Azzuro Mundo
A Red whcih is called FIAT Rosso on the pot and has a 1 on the pot, poss FIAT 111

Doing some googling on the variants of x75x finds:
475 which is very dark, but the blue is very dark!
754 which looks a light blue.

If you have the energy to look, do you have a Fiat/Lancia 475/A in your swatches?

Unfortunately not Graham, I was looking for any blue that had 75 as part of the number.

Darren, thanks for trying, much appreciated.

I've used the lighter blue I bought over the repair and it looks quite natty! I'll paint the other side to match and make a feature of it.

Then when we are ready for a proper bodywork overhaul, I'll get the paint matched.

Cheers!

I can’t help on the blue, but my wife’s ‘08 Panda 100hp has code 111/A, which might help you define the red.

A quick and happy update. I bought a pot of 475A touch up paint from ebay and I am happy to report it is an exact match! I'm doing the same with the other two colours (111/A Rosso and 767/A Azzurro Mondo) to confirm the three colours.

Thanks all for the help - especially Darren!

Cheers
