Tartan Fabric

Post by dean1057 »

Dropped on some cheap Porsche seats for the Silver 911Sc and I want recover them in a leather / tartan combo. (Being a black interior it's pretty dark)
Spotted some I'm interested in the top row of this website but the company is in the states. https://p1designs.com/fabrics/
I know some of you on here have done similar, can anyone shares a uk stockist.
Cheers

Heritage in the UK. Westfalia plaid material - got the necessary backing, too.

Or Custom & Commercial, also in the UK:

I know you said UK, but the 924 crowd get their original matching cloths from this guy Thomas in Germany. They have two different qualities and good value compared to some... I've heard that UK OPC's get it from him too... https://werk924.com/shop/stoffe-und-kun ... and-vinyl/

I ordered a sample of the green/blue tartan plaid recently from Martrim here in the UK but all they sent me was about one square centimetre so I simply couldnt tell if it was a match for what I have in my car already...

Of course lots of other people do it too as I'm sure other people will point out.

I haven't tried it, but I have this place bookmarked. If I were looking for something non-standard and yummy, I would be looking at places like this (which sounds rather like the earlier recommendation).... https://www.scotlandshop.com/tartan/fabrics.

What designs / colours are you considering? :bounce:

If you just want a tartan of your choice rather than one of the original Porsche plaid patterns then search for tartan fabric by colour.
The house of tartan and the Scotland shop sell it by the metre.

I used Westfalia tartan- as KS points out- already foam backed so great for the job!
Not so ideal for the waistcoat I had made to match though- v.hot!

On another point on these seats I've noticed the recliner knob is missing on one of the seats, the round one with the pop out cover.
Has anybody got a spare or some old crusty seats that I could buy just the wheel.
Cheers

I think the Porsche red plaid would look extremely good on your Guards Red and black.

Maybe this car just sold will convince you? Or, are you think of going 'independent'?!

Looks good Dean but the car I’m playing with is a zinc silver 81 911Sc with black interior.
