Also I am married to a doctor. A psychiatrist, specifically. Hence the need to spend a lot of time in the garage.
Jonny - it does smell a bit odd. Previously the property of a Spanish farmer, so probably Chorizo under one of the seats.
Three door RRs are only for the very cool dudes. So why have you got one?

In other news, the Rat Rover has been on holiday to Netherfield:
Barry sent me this pic:
Which I think is what was left of my car when all the rusty bits had been removed.

Re: Ratty Range Rover
The upper picture does make it look fantastically putrid I have to say
I have to say in the flesh there is something highly endearing about this old hector: two things really strike when looking at it a) the amount of interior space and light and b) feels much better built than might be expected.
It's generous too: was happy to donate what appeared to be about 4.5 litres of engine oil to the workshop drive ... will be much improved with the reduced ventilation (above) and visit to the RR doctor for a leak reduction procedure.

Turns out you were right all along, Dave. I did want one of those. And obviously needed another project.stretch wrote:Traitor.... what happened to the G then...
Bought on Friday.
Spares or repair etc etc. No warranty of any kind - vendor extremely clear on that particular point... :
Fitted new turbo actuator and did a few other bits, so had some boost by Saturday morning. Cat was a great help, as always:
Drove it to Cornwall 5-up on Saturday evening:
So far so good!

Quite the collection you are putting together Richard, I like it! The RR looks a bit worrying but the G-Wagon looks nice (from a distance).
Good work and please keep the updates coming. What are you buying next week, Land Cruiser?

Hi James, yes, manual. Also a six, but diesel I’m afraid. It is a truck after all.
Hi Feroz, not intended to be a collection! I do need to thin it out a bit.

Love it, just noticed this.
The G Wagen is a great piece of kit, nothing wrong with the diesel.

Although yours is nearly 30 years younger than mine, Tom!
To be fair to mine, I am liking the (OM603) straight six turbodiesel. Refinement really not bad, and suits the car.
Conventional wisdom seems to be that they are nearly indestructible. Perhaps not surprising given the rather modest power output from 3 litres...
Very cool photo, like it.

I learned to drive in a 280 GE short wheel base. Loved it. It had a cloth interior and far less bling than the current model, suited the nature of the car more.
Just for interest the Komatsu dozer next to mine, it weights 115t, also a diesel, 30 Ltr 12 Cylinder engine and uses 1000l of fuel a day. Refinement isn't that good.

I thought mine was surprisingly economical when I got to Cornwall with nearly half a tank left. Until I read the spec and discovered the 96l tank...
