As the who went on the Northern Event may know my fuel pump died on the Sunday and I went 180 miles home on the back of a truck...

Well...

Just taken it out expecting to find a split diaphragm or something as it was still running when I broke down, just no fuel. Found it's a scroll type mechanical pump so nothing really to break, if it runs it will pump.

Put it back together plumbed it back in, tested it and would you believe it... fuel coming out of the carb feed....

My only thought was that maybe the pressure relief to the return was wide open, but all looked OK,

Any ideas? Maybe an airlock? :? Do I take a brave pill and just stick it back on?

Gary..........
My vote is for the brave pill, whilst you're still on a roll!

I'm taking a bottle of those to get my Split Bus from here to the Dordogne and back again!

It probably doesn't help but I had an XJS V12 where the pump went bad so I hit it with a hammer and it worked fine until I sold it six months later.

Take the brave pills.

Good luck with those pills...

I'm just going to take a couple myself and stick it back on. :drunken: I'll just make sure I carry the RAC phone number!

sell the 911 and buy an MGB. Then learn the real trouble you can get with a fuel pump :) .
Tim
p.s.
I'd vote for the brave pill

I did think of you on Sunday, Gary, at Brands, as there was a 911T fuel pump being sold by one of the 914 register guys. I did try to phone Sun. night, but your mobile was off.

By time I got back on Monday it had sold anyway .... but its the thought that counts  .
