What if Goodwood Members Meeting is cancelled due to Corona?

Post by Black Betty »

In 2 weeks the Goodwood Members Meeting is scheduled to take place. I've bought tickets long ago and booked the ferry and a hotel.

What if the Members Meeting is cancelled due to Corona?

- Will the tickets be refunded?
- Will it be cancelled or postponed?
- Isn't it curious that Goodwood doesn't keep us in the loop?

Just a few questions that popped up and I just wanted to hear your standpoint on this...

Given what’s happening over here this morning and the likely possibility of a government decision on escalating the UK’s response later today I’d put money on it being cancelled I’m afraid

Events are being cancelled / postponed today at an alarming rate

Take what has just been announced in the Republic of Ireland

Schools, colleges and other public facilities in the Republic of Ireland are to close in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) Leo Varadkar said the measures would take effect from 18:00 on Thursday to 29 March.
The first death linked to coronavirus has been recorded in the Republic of Ireland.
The elderly woman died in a Dublin hospital on Wednesday.
Mr Varadkar said schools, colleges and childcare facilities will close from Friday.
He said indoor mass gatherings of more than 100 people and outdoor gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled.

Not confirmed yet but likely

I think they should just scrap this season. Make it null and void and go again next year

And to be sure, scrap next season, too. And the next.

Even if it's not cancelled, attendance will be right down, I'm sure. Tickets haven't sold anything like as quickly as usual, plus with the general feeling of doom, I can see some ticket holders from abroad cutting their losses and staying at home, along with some car owners. Retro Classics at Stuttgart saw attendance down by over 30 per cent.

Not quite the same level but Freddyfiles in Ninove, Belgium had the plug pulled earlier today. Its a one day Aircooled only VW show that attracts about 1,000 cars from across Europe. In the last couple of hours its been announced that Shops, Cafe's, Restaurants and Bars have to close until the end of the month.

I would make sure that you can get out of anything that you've booked at short notice.

We are in uncertain times, hope for the best and plan for the worst...

Worth checking to see if it covers the Coronavirus, my brother was booked for Japan some months ago but has since found that it doesn't cover the virus anyway if he did go...................
