Unusually well-proportioned and coherant design for a special, has aged well and works with front or rear engine

Dolphin-Porsche built for Otto Zipper's Precision Motor Cars Beverley Hills. Founder Bud Hull: "All the good animal names were already taken." During 1963 Ken Miles raced the car in SCCA alongside his Shelby Cobra contract. Lighter than the Spyders, Porsche is said to have pressured Zipper to withdraw the car if he wanted to continue selling Porsches

Round-up from Amelia Island
Some long, awkward silences couldn’t drag ’68 Targa winning 907-025 past reserve, bidding running out of steam at $4m (est. $4.5m – 5.5m)
https://www.broadarrowauctions.com/vehi ... sche-907-k
by comparison 907-031 had managed equiv. $4.2m at Retromobile 2022:
https://www.artcurial.com/en/lot-1968-p ... e-4134-203
The Kline ’69 T/R sold at $420k (est. $450 – 650k)
https://bid.goodingco.com/lots/view/1-7 ... che-911-tr
not far off the $440k 11820721 made back in 2014
https://www.goodingco.com/lot/1968-porsche-911-tr/
Sports purpose 911S 11800988 with period race history and reportedly upgraded to a 911R spec twin-plug engine was a no-sale, bid to $320k (est $400 – 450k)
https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am23 ... pe/1324726
The Ferris Bueller Modena Spyder sold at $280k (est. $350 - $450k). This despite late disclosed info that it was originally a promotional engineless display car
https://www.bonhams.com/auction/28010/l ... -az218752/
this seems well-sold given that the ‘hero’ car used in filming made $396k at Scottsdale in 2020

Lots of money spent with plenty of detailed bills but the history is, let’s say, interesting.
One tiny throw away line which states the engine cases are replacements. I thought the engine number stamp looked a little suspect………
