Show us your 'garage'

Post by Bootsy »

Spurred on by our resident footwear designer Mr Jury - I give you the Show us Your Garage thread.

We are true to breed, stereotype, demographic whatever you care to use as a descriptor so I'm betting there are some great garages / man caves out there.

Of course we haven't all got multi car, porcelain-ed floor homes for our cars so even if you keep yours in a make shift tent or shed please share away!

Here are Chris Jury's pics which started it all

I'll kick this off.
Not quite to Mr Jury's standard but a hive of activity!

I still have use of a garage in Norwich which is where I used to store a car but it’s a joy to be able to get both the 911s undercover at the house I moved in to 2 and a half years ago.

It’s also my little retreat where I have a desk and bench to undertake a few horological based activities or just sit and sip a glass of red.

Mr Jury has the advantage of living in America where everything is bigger and better, but here’s my modest double garage that I’ve recently had thoroughly insulated. Before it was too cold to go in during the winter. Now a two kilowatt blower and I’m comfortable.

Image

PS. I only got the floor painted and as predicted by DDK experts, it wasn’t quite useless.

As seen on the other post... Leaky lock-up rented off local housing authority. No power, no use...

Had a four-car garage, separate double-garage-sized workshop and parking for 11 cars. Then I got divorced...

Mine is a normal double garage and although it does have a porcelain floor, it’s seen better days after the last year of cutting and welding!

Image

Not sure I’ll ever recover it back to its state in this pic before the abuse started :)

Image

Best thing is the LED strip lighting I put up before starting the 911 bodywork. You can never have too much light and it’s so much better than those flickering fluorescents that don’t work when it’s cold.

This is my car's summer residence.

And here's the winter/workshop garage which gives me more space if I need to change a spark plug or something.

My garage has the space but not the tidiness anymore .... these days it needs the floor re doing as all the paint has lifted and it’s dusty as hell . Once upon a time I had all 3 bays nicely filled with cars ... these days I’ve lost one bay to the wife’s work stuff and old furniture and other shite !!!

My garage had an argument with a tree :( . Repair works ongoing. Luckily the Rep wasn't damaged.

When we last moved home one of the key criteria of the new house was that it had to have a 2 car garage or the room to build one. So when we moved plans were drawn up for an extension that incorporated a 2.1/2 car garage - just what I wanted. Unfortunately before the build was finished I lost a car space to a utility room and toilet!

After years of moving my 911 from place to place I finally had it home.

Image

It didn't stay home for too long as I then moved it to my friends workshop where it would be easier to finish. Then other stuff started creeping into the garage. Here's what it looks like now:

Image

So my 2 cars that should be in my home garage are not. The 911 has been in the same location for the last 7 years - a rented barn in Sussex which I share with a couple of mates.

Image

And the Golf track car is still in my Mum's garage.

Image

Didn't really work out too well for me did it?

Minecraft with a VR headset is basically real life. Only better.
