I collected my new car today
And drove it home
197 miles, - Pagoda 250sl - fantastic car.

When I got home, this months “Octane “ magazine had been delivered
Pagoda on the cover- if I didn’t have one, I’d definitely want one after reading that!

We've had Pagodas on and off for twenty five years now and they are by far the easiest of classic cars to own... once restored that is. If it comes to it, don't scrimp on a fuel pump rebuild. Spend proper money to rebuild if you want authenticity, or stump up for an excellent new one from MB. It'll never need doing again. Can completely transform the drive from graceful, well-bred old dear to dirty, cider-fuelled slapper. Especially if its a manual.

I was absolutely astonished at how well it drives. I had a twenty minute test drive when I went to look at it a few weeks ago, but 197 miles on the way home from collecting it really gave time to get used to it and it's fantastic. Far "sportier" than I ever expected and I absolutely love it. The hardtop was fitted for the drive home, it looks superb, the only detriment was bright sunshine all the way home and I couldn't put the roof down !

I wish I'd bought one years ago !

Love an old merc,had a few r107s over the years,lovely cars to whaft around in completely different to porsches,theres a cple of companies round by me that specialize in old pagodas/sl's,red castle classics,and hemmels in Cardiff who have just supplied lewis hamilton with a pagoda,

Read that great article about the red one and the design of the classic hard top last night in bed.
Slept (unusually) for 8 hours!
I imagine driving one to have the same effect on anyone's demeanour, relaxing.
These cars are out of my reach, but the 80's SL's are not.

Really fancy one but they will not fit in the garage by length by 6"

Maybe just as well.

No still going strong,they did a cple of cars for the merc museum in germany
