NOW SOLD.
For sale is my Porsche 912, LHD, in its original colour of Tangerine (6809), imported from California in 2014. It was sold by VW Pacific in 1968, as recorded on its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
The car was restored prior to leaving the USA at great expense. In addition, the owner prior to me (a fellow Porsche enthusiast) spent a further £12,000 (discs, pads, front and rear shocks, gearbox rebuild, new exhaust - to name a few items) fettling the car and servicing it at Strasse in North Yorkshire.
I have since spent an additional £2,500, having the car serviced at Tuthill (by Francis himself) and Greatworth Classics, who stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, rebuilt and set up both of its original Solex carburettors.
The car has been MOT’d annually during its time in the UK despite being MOT exempt. The latest three certificates show no advisories and can be viewed online (Reg: STO814F).
The car has been restored to a high standard. On purchasing the car, Francis Tuthill inspected the vehicle for any signs of rust, uneven panel gaps and the like - he concluded that much of the car was original, rear arches, floor pans etc - indicating a sunny life in California, and that it was a very nice, rust-free example.
The car is non matching numbers but is running a fully rebuilt, late 1968 912 engine, type 616/39. This in my opinion offers you the best of both worlds - reliability and originality if you would like to keep the car as is, OR, a guilt-free option on modifying the car to a SWB 911, that are now fetching £100,000+.
Straight, solid shell, SWB cars are hard to come by, which is what drove me to choose this 912 at the time of purchase having viewed 3 912s prior to this. The photographs of the underside speak volumes for the car’s overall condition. In addition, the age of this car means that it’s tax exempt, MOT exempt, ULEZ exempt and eligible for classic car insurance where its agreed value with Hagerty Classic Car Insurance is £45,000.
The car is garaged in SW London and available to view during evenings and weekends. It is accompanied by its Porsche COA, service history, UK MOT history, drivers manual, workshop manual, original toolkit and three keys.
As mentioned, I am a long term Porsche owner, enthusiast and PCGB member. I look forward to dealing with fellow Porsche enthusiasts.
Price: £42,500. PM for contact details.
