Who can make me a custom exhaust in London??

At the moment I have this..



Too loud and I need to sort it out.

Need a single in and single out box like this...

I really need this sorting asap. If anyone can reccommend a company or person that can do this for me in London I would appriciate it.

I have contacted a VW guy called Turbo Thomas to do it but he is all the way up in Birmingham! Which is too far to go and then leave the car there aswell.

Please help.

can't you fit a bolt-on supertrapp to your exhaust?

How about finding someone local and friendly who will 'lend' you a standard one for the duration of your MOT and then straight after, go back to the 'I have no silencer whatsoever (well a tiny little pre-muffler)' situation it looks like your car currently has

No wonder it won't pass an MOT right now .

There used to be a guy know as Mike the pipe in South London somewhere - he made all sorts of special exhausts. Anyone know of him and where he is?

If you're still struggling and decide to Turbo Thomas, I certainly can recommend him, I have my exhaust built from scratch there and I'm very happy with the results.

Mike the pipe used to advertise in the kit car mags. Don't know if he still does.

Beg/ borrow/ steal something just to get it past the MOT. Looking forward to seeing the car at the weekend

I had my local 'Powerflow' dealer made up a custom stainless steel silencer arrangement to suit the BAS Type 4 header on my Chesil. Wasn't much room for a silencer but they sourced on that would fit and made the necessary pipework. In this case they used a side in, end out box.

I would recommend their work to others

A standard 3.2 single in and single out box will not fit inside the bumper. Its too big. Also the car sounds absolutely awesome in this bypass configuration.

Need to get things sorted. Any more leads??

Here's another top of mind idea for the test only....

Take the final pipe off at the flange, pack the pre muffler with steel wool (Wickes, B&Q etc) will be able to help, place some narrow chicken wire over the end to prevent the wool blowing out under load, then bolt the final pipe back on.

Marvel at how much quiter it is, take for test, get certificate, remove sound deadening and HEAD NORTH for the weekend.

Don't worry about back pressure etc. - for the small amount of time it's going to be installed, it will make very little difference (if any at all).

Far cheaper (and quicker) than having something else fabricated up.

make sure its stainless wire wool though or it'll rust instantly

We have already tried this. The wool won't stay in place at all.. there is alot of velocity generated from the flat 6 exhaust gasses.

Well the muffler place said that I should come for measurements on Saturday and that the muffler will be ready on Wednesday morning for fitting.

£230 for the same system that you see above but in Stainless steel.

What do you guys think? Good price??

Surely it will if you put something in there (i.e. the fine chicken wire) to stop it being fired out under pressure. You're just not thinking far enough outside the box .
