Now sold - 1975 Alfa GT Junior

I know there is a lot of Alfa love on here so thought I’d put this up in advance of a full ad on the usual sales sites next week in the hope that it might go to a ‘good home’ and continue to be driven regularly. Pictures are a bit scant at present, but I will add more as soon as I get the chance to take them this weekend. I’m looking for £20,000.
I bought the car in November 2015 and it was then a solid (sills and floor pans had been done, for example), but tired car with patchy but consistent paperwork and bags of potential. Since then, much time and money has been spent on attempting to release that potential – all undertaken by 105 specialist Ian Ellis and documented in a now sizeable history file.
All the improvements made are too numerous to mention here, but highlights include:
- Custom-built by Ian Ellis fast road 2 litre Nord engine on Webers to replace the original 1600 engine, which was lively but didn’t have quite enough puff for my taste
- Stainless steel sports exhaust
- Fast road handling kit
- Upgraded and lightened suspension including Koni shocks
- Big brake kit
- Gearbox rebuild and new clutch
- 123 ignition
- New perforated leather BF-Torinos to replace original incomplete and worn seats
- Webasto sun roof fully overhauled (including new hand-made frame) and returned to as new working order
- GRP bonnet added to the car, which already had its current GRP doors before I bought it
- Major areas of rust identified and dealt with – only one of significance in the panel next to the driver’s door, the offending area and it’s surround were cut out and replaced with a bespoke replacement
- At the beginning of this year I replaced the ‘Performance Superlite’ wheels and steel spare the car had when I bought it (and appear in the pictures below) with five lightweight GTA style alloys and gave them new Toyo Proxes
Obviously, a 44 year-old car is always a work in progress, so there are still some issues to be addressed, but my to do list is a short one and contains nothing that requires immediate attention: next winter’s plan was to look deeper at a few lesser signs of rust and the tidying up of some interior and exterior trim; longer-term the windscreen has some age-related scratching and so could do with replacing in the next few years and the dashboard has the all too common and difficult to fix cracks that would be nice to deal with at some point.
The car now weighs below 900kg (it was dead on 900kg wet when weighed before the last set of improvements and consequent lightening), it handles beautifully and is an absolute joy to drive – I will undoubtedly regret selling it for years to come, but my cash-flow situation dictates that I must.
The car has been a terrific companion on many a road trip across the UK and Europe, for example to:

As well as a late night return from central France:
The car has now done just over 77,000 miles (which will continue to rise until sale) and is available for inspection in East Sussex or potentially further afield by mutual agreement and time permitting.
