Hi Guys
Noisy front diff on a 1995 C4... can it be refurbed with new bearings or is the only solution replacement?
Cheers
Duncan

Re: Noisy front diff C4
Are you sure its diff noise and not CV joint? What sort of noise is it? Fluid been done?
Should be fairly easy to find a used replacement if needed, might be cheaper than refurbing yours.
Or just bin the 4WD stuff and go RWD

Re: Noisy front diff C4
I'm in the process of buying the car and the pre purchase report from the specialist lists the front diff as noisy.
I'm just trying to quantify future expense.
New complete diff is apparently £2800 + vat from Porsche.
Duncan.

Re: Noisy front diff C4
Think it’s a simple open diff. Perhaps not had a fluid change in a long time or ever (!). I’d be checking the service records for that.
It will be rebuildable I’m sure (new bearings & seals) but the risk is the diff gears are damaged due to poor maintenance which would require a new crown & pinion (or full new diff).
