I'll try to dig out a photo showing where the real engine number is located

Guess you found out just as I was writing the post . Hope you have all the info you need.

Gary..............thought I had but I havnt, found the crank case numbers I think.if you could tell me where the engine number is that would be great.

Hi Matt, yes you are looking at the casting number: engine number should be just off to the right of the crank pulley on a little flat: can't remember if its vertical or horizontal though (vertical I think?): I would check on my car, but since I've sold it, it's not very practical .

BTW, the engine number is stamped in, rather than raised cast in numbers.

Matt . . . your garage must be a fair old hike . . . or have you got lost

found it!! It is what it says on the tin a 2.2 E engine, not exactly what I wanted but it will do the job
