My restoration is proceeding apace and i will upload my photo album of the stages when i learn how to post.
One mistake i made was not to take lots of photos as i stripped the car to remind me how it goes back together. This has caused much head scratching. At the age of 70 and 9 months since i stripped it memory can play tricks.
Small problem but on assembling the bumpers i cannot remember which brackets go front and which go rear.
One set of brackets are straight the others are kinked. Do the kinked ones go front or back and am i right in assuming the kink goes up not down?

Kinked brackets go in the back.

I think also that the kinks go downwards from the body towards the bumper, but I would need to take a quick look under my car to check, and I'm stuck in work at the moment.

Best of luck with the re-alignment of the brackets on the bumpers. I could probably best describe it as an iterative process that needs much fitting and fettling.

As said, they need much fiddling, and that extra arm that comes out of the middle of your forehead! I suggest smothering the body with masking tape in the bumper area as it is very easy to scratch the paint during the alignment process.......Good luck, W

Thanks for the advice. Its seems yet another tricky job. For a simple car Porsche did a lot of things that were fiddly to do. The cables that operate the front vents had broken and are no longer available so i made a pair by winding piano wire around a 5mm bolt a few times. refitting the cables was a complete nightmare and took forever with much cursing. The job i am dreading is fitting the trim panel on the rear fire wall. It has about 10 short pins that you push through the insulation then the firewall, then the engine bay insulation and through the fibre board. The pins are only about50mm long and as soon as you put the board in position you cannot get your hands behind the board to guide them. Sound like i will be swearing a bit more.
Still the car is looking good so it should be worth it in the end.

I will have a look today for a few pictures showing the brackets when I rebuilt my bumpers, use some tape as suggested.

In relation to the rear panel get some oxygen tubing, the pins can push onto this and then put the tubing through the holes, get someone to push from inside while you pull gently on the tubing go get the pin through and the nut started.

Just checked I have a few good pictures of the bumpers with the brackets attached.

On a slightly separate note I have a spare rear B or C bumper, all brackets and captive nuts are perfect if anyone is looking for one.

I placed it on ebay last night, here is the number 254019419703, all pictures are there.

Just finished fitting the front bumper. very fiddly but not too bad as took me about 1 1/2 hours. I used some axle stands under the overiders to ensure it was level them jigged it around with all the bolts just backed off until it was equal on both sides. Got it to within about 3mm out side to side and i can live with that as the wing shapes can vary. Getting at all the bolts with a 3/8 drive socket and short socketwas pretty easy even when fitted with about 6mm clearance in the middle from the nose. The rear i understand is much more of a problem but the car is going back on the ramps later this week so it will be less bending for an old man.

What did you do to protect the paintwork when the brackets slid either out or back in. It’s something I need to do to get the backs of the bumpers re sprayed.

I covered all the edges and the underskirt where the spanner would go with masking tape. If you are only taking the bumpers off to repaint then you only need to remove the bolts at the back of the brackets under the wing. This is an easy job and you will not have to reset anything. the brackets should leave a telltale line in the underseal when removed so realigning should be easy. Its only when you take the brackets off the bumpers that you have the tricky problem of resetting everything as they have sideways and vertical adjustment
