Hi
I've just signed up to DDK. I have owned my first Porsche for over six years and frequently looked at the site, especially Pic of Day. This is the first time I've been on any forum (promise!) and hope I will be able to learn and become more practical because of it. Sadly I'm not mechanically skilled at all, but now with two 911's feel its time I got more to grips with whats under the bonnet. Having returned from St. Albans this week and being told that the time had come for my car to have an engine rebuild - well there's no time like the present..
Children have all left home just, so all those long term promised driving adventures have got to start now.
I'm very fortunate to own a '89 Carrera 3.2 which I use every day, all weather, and really is a pleasure to be in;
and about two and a half years ago came my '71 blood orange 911T Targa, which is thrilling but sadly gets much less use!
I look forward to the forum and hearing about the adventures of other Porsche owner's and their Tales!
Thanks
Dominic

Welcome to DDK Dominic
Which one needs the engine rebuild? Is St Albans where Jaz are now?

There are a few on here like me who like Targas but also some who have 3.2s so you should find plenty of interest.

Pictures of your cars are always welcome although you have to post the picture somewhere else like Flickr or you can post directly using tapatalk

Many thanks for the welcome!

JB - it's the 3.2 having now just done over the 100,000 mark in miles, likes to let me know it with plumes of white smoke in the mornings - and I thought it was just the cold...
Yes Jaz are now in St. Albans, I used to see them a lot when they were in Wembley near me, but now its more of a treck. I was up for an alternator replacement, always a panic when a red light comes on - but had to come back with ideas on how to save up for an engine rebuild.. living in London my daily commute does involve much traffic so its a hard life I guess for any car, but I could have done without this double whammy.
My Targa has been rebuilt from the very ground up, and actually is still at a "running in" stage. Don't think it would enjoy the smog of the A40 on a daily basis yet! I will try and learn how to put pictures up to show you.
Thanks
Dominic

Welcome to DDK..and Kudos for daily driving your 3.2..seems you need to increasingly watch out for tealeaves with an old Porsche in London though

Welcome to DDK. I don't think your commute should be to stressful on your engine. Probably better for it than doing nothing. Lots of good engine builders and if you don't mine traveling outside the M25 the prices most might get better. However most good people had a waiting list so you will have time to save ;)

Welcome Dominic. You’ll get to grips with what’s under bonnet of a 911 pretty quickly as it’s not as complicated as the other end. 8)
