Another RHD 67S surfaces

It remarkable how these cars, now 50 years old, with a production of 35 worldwide, possibly 36, keep popping up. A new chassis number has not been added to my database for a year or two now and I thought that a survival rate of 22 (possibly23) meant pretty much all had been accounted for. Out of the blue here is another. Originally registered to a Bermuda based New Zealander it appears the car has spent a lot of its life very down under. It looks nice, better than many in the detail although I did notice the headlight lenses and wiper arms/blades are not quite correct but a very lovely interior not too over-restored. Missing the Rhd undertray too.
Has anyone seen a bar before which seems to connect the front torsion mounts?

Seller is asking £225000. Near Bootsy. I’ve never heard of them before but they also have a very rare RHD 2.2S as well.

It's not a bar at the front of the suspension arms but the light reflecting off the crossmember.

Agree it makes a refreshing change to see a price. Not sure about the "impeccable restoration" on the 2.2 "S". Non original steering wheel and body colour under wheel arches as well as too glossy a paint finish in the luggage compartment. I wonder what else?

That's the sister car to mine. I suspect they would have been nose-to-tail on the production line.
Wrong hinge bolts. I'm out!
Wrong front calipers.
Think the headlights are wrong, too (H4s, should be H1s).
Still nice (as it should be for 235K GBP).

If anyone is thinking of buying, please point them in my direction. Happy to share my extensive anorak knowledge.

BTW we could debate the paint finish in the luggage compartment. I know on slightly later cars there was not much colour in there. But the original paint still present on my car indicated that the luggage compartment of my car at least was fully painted, so I went for the same.

Dear Richard (2.2 S) Anorak,
I was being critical of the 2.2 "S" principally because of the substantial asking price and the claim of an "impeccable restoration". Probably the restoration is like the curate's egg good in parts. But at the price it really should be spot on.

The headlight type is interesting. Certainly H1s were not initially supplied on US cars but not sure if they were "standard" fitment on ROW vehicles. Perhaps Mike (250 BHP) knows?

And when you look at the picture of the NSR the panel/trim fit leaves a lot to desired. What will closer inspection reveal? 235k is not pennies in the back pocket.

I have just had a long conversation with the owner/seller.
The car is in fact in the workshop now undergoing some of the corrections you guys have pointed out (and I’ve added to his list of jobs :lol: ). He seems to be a perfectionist and very interested in originality rather than garage queen. The price is for the car when finished.

AFAIK what I know as H1’s were not available anywhere before 68 and a 67S did not have them fitted Rhd or lhd. There is a little confusion here because I notice a well know US seller/restorer of headlights has been calling the earlier swb headlights as ‘H1’s’. This may be an American thing/terminology but I’m sure Richard will agree his latest S resto car will have had H1’s whereas my 67S did not.

Agree, H1s are correct for a (Euro) 70 S. I don't know enough about 67s - sure you are right.
