Column Rally 2017

Afew weeks ago now, but I was invited along to the third running of the Column Rally here in Oregon. The idea is anything pre '90 is welcomed with a planned route taking in some of the amazing roads on our doorstep. 16 cars headed out of Portland on Saturday morning and took in some stunning scenery on our way to the Ferry crossing into Washington State. After a lunch stop at what had to be the most isolated Irish themed pub, we headed towards the coast and over the Columbia river into Astoria (where the Goonies was filmed). We stayed the night at a cool 60's inspired motel and enjoyed some local beer tasting...one of the guys Wifes just happened to be a sales rep for the local brewery 
. Next day saw us head out of Astoria up to the local Column landmark (hence the event). Checked out the amazing scenery where 3 main rivers flow into the Pacific and then picked up highway 101 south before cutting back East and back towards Portland. Great 2 days, with some 400 + miles of driving. The 912 performed well, but it's definitely getting tired...winter refresh on the cards !
Random mix of cars and people, the weather just about held up...but it all worked out great. Lucky to live in a lovely part of the world with an increasing amount of like minded car folk.
I can't take credit for all of the photos, I will give the honour to Cliff Brunk (he won't mind)....Event organiser, wedding photographer, car/bike nut and general all round nice guy. He knows how to take a decent snap...
