i'm fitting one of Jason's alternator conversions and will be using a 75A alternator so i can power one or two electric cabin heaters at the front....my question is whether i need to uprate the charging wiring. Looking at a 1969 wiring diag, the only wire that seems to carry the charging current to the battery, from the generator, is the main thick starter cable....the only other wire which runs front to back and which doesn't have a specific purpose (i.e. lights etc) is the blue wire to the charge lamp but that can't be the wire that carries the charge to the battery, can it?
So, if the starter cable is also the charge cable, i would think that it should carry 75A with ease.
Any thoughts?

Presumably the alternator provides a regulated output so just needs a direct route to the battery and nothing else.

maybe it's me Neil, but i didn't think i got an answer to the question i posed....to put it simply, is the starter cable also the cable that carries the output current from the generator....if it is, all i'd have to do would be to link the new alternator to the starter (as i think the generator is anyway) and that may be enough to allow the 75A to be carried to the battery

Yeah the only thing that might be worth upgrading or at least checking is the link between the alternator and the starter before it makes its way forward.
