Re: Some weekend Guitar
Wow indeed.I sold my Martin this week. After 10 years of playing, and not having the requisite natural gifts to reach a level that satisfied me,Ive retired. At least from acoustic.I realise that no guitarist is ever completely happy with is playing. However,I had a level in my head when I first picked it up.Didnt get there.6 years trying to master one not particularly difficult riff, caused the demon of frustration to rise once too much.
Doesnt help when this guy is you tutor, and makes it look so damn easy

Re: Some weekend Guitar
I thought this thread had died..
Lucas plays some great covers, and so many others do too, and watching them makes things worse as a 'player'.
I found/find watching these people and those such as Lemmo just kill my enthusiasm to a large degree, I will never get anywhere close, and feel 'why bother', I find these specialists awesome not inspiring.
I used to 'play', a term I really doubt applies to me, 10 or 20 mins a day, electro acoustic to keep things tonally different, but now about 10 mins a week. Never had lessons, just a Bert Weeden chord book in the 60's.
I am left handed, and there are several things in life I do right handed, guitar is one, draw left, played cricket right, shot a shotgun nether, just could not get my 'eye' into either hand, perhaps tha is why I have failed on guitar, but laying left seems very odd.
However, I love the instrument but dread anyone asking me to play something, they expect a Lucas performance.

Graham I was at a Blues Jam session recently. The house band where all of a high standard. I got chatting to the bass player and he had studied tuber at the Royal Academy but was playing the bass to play rent. The rest of the band were of a similar background and professionals. Everyone was super friendly but wasn't the gig for an enthusiastic home strummer to get up and try.

Re: Some weekend Guitar
There are many vids of making all manner of guitars on YouTube, most are excellent. I particularly like the repair vids from twoodfrd over in near Canada and Rosa Stringworks.
Crimson Guitars in the UK for the axes are really good too.

Re: Some weekend Guitar
Some might like this. From GarageTime. Tom produces some very good air cooled videos. Here is a guitar he built with his son
