Prices have risen slowly over the years with parts getting more expensive l guess. Factory built start at £26,000 plus vat for the classic basic model with a 1641cc engine, rising to £28,000 plus vat with a 1800cc. Then you have the extras which soon adds up £££'s to get a half decent car.

No, that's an asking price. What it sells for, if ever, is a completely different matter.

Having built a Pilgrim Cobra and a Chesil Speedster, l'd give the quality edge to Chesil although comparing both ads the pics would suggest differently

The fit and finish is always down to the skills of the builder and the time he is willing to put in.

No chance, not with an engine that looks/presented like this
I appreciate a replica as it's the only way to get into ownership for many and I can just see how that Chesil is worth £30k, but £50k for that!

Think it's the film link encouraging them to try and bump it up. Whether they succeed is another thing

I'd like to see something to back the film claim up - seems a passing mention with little substance anyway

What a hideous interior (seats/carpets/gear lever gaiter) ...
