Bought a Boxster today.

Post by 911hillclimber »

Fell for a Gen2 2.9 Boxster today, lost money on the BMW z4 but all is well now, moving on, and should have bought one instead of the Z4 in the first place.

First duff move I have made on a car for a VERY long time, so not too bad.

The Boxster is just fantastic, rides/goes and looks great, lots of space, sounds great and in white a refreshing alternative to Artic silver.

Pity the seats are leather, but might see if I can change them late this year.

Hope to have it next weekend.

I did this to have a good riding car which the Z4 certainly is not when off the Motorway/dual carriages of the UK.

Looks very nice in white. Is that a Healey 3000 behind it ?

Everyone told me they are good, just beautiful.
Could not get enthused about the Z4, but this is another car altogether.

White looks just great, goes well, no IMS bearing etc, smooth and very controlled, perfect cruiser for the booked Euro trip in June.

So pleased!

The Healey is a gem and VERY expensive.

I've known this Porsche Independent for 1/4 century, so this just feels right.

I had to pay for the car, but the one I tried at a Porsche Dealer yesterday was crap in comparison, but the alcantara seats were nice.

You do realise you will lose money on the Boxster also? Z4's and Boxsters are not really make money or don't lose money cars....but they are a lot of fun for the price. You just have to do a lot of miles to make sure you get the best £ per smile conversion rate.

Enjoy.

Enjoy and smile at those who call it a hairdressers car. YOU know better.
They are a beautifully balanced and a real drivers car.

Did you happen to see MMU 911C whilst you were there?

This is my second Boxster. Great everyday car and doesn't disgrace itself in a sprint or on the hills. Buying carefully second hand it doesn't depreciate any worse than any other car, and servicing at a good non franchised dealer is very reasonable. They are NOT hairdresser cars, only those who have not driven one claim that they are !

PCT are local to me, my WIFE found the cars for me last night after the disappointment of the 2.7 at the Porsche Dealer.( = a 'permission')

Yes, lots of money disappeared Jason, but I hope to keep this a long time. We tend to do this in the household to get all the value from the depreciation.

Some nice oldies in the showroom there, but everything sells instantly.
My 987 was on the showroom floor at 2.00pm yesterday, sold to me 24 hours later, another (was) coming to view at 8.30 tomorrow....You have to be decisive.

Very hard to describe just how it was to drive, the weight of the controls, the ride and the sounds, esp when you push on a little, but it is so flexible an engine, and the 6 speed manual is just superb.

It will be a long wait to Saturday next.

Best bits on the Z4 were the 6 pot and the auto box.
Ride, heavy steering and small boot and the USA look dulled the experience.

I hope my Boxster honeymoon lasts a long time.

Your Targa was VERY NICE INDEED, loved the car on Cookies too.

I love the boxster, they are such a well balanced car, and having owned a couple of earlier 2.7s, I really couldn't understand why you initially bought a Z4.
Have fun.

I bought a 981 Boxster S in 2012 ( traded my 997 GT3 for it) and I think it;s the best car I've ever had. Owned it for three years and 15,000 miles and still love driving it.

Hope you have as good a time with your Boxster as I did with mine. Yours looks to be a cracking example.

Mine was a super early P plate car with a 5 speed and 2.5l My only criticism was that by comparison with a similar age 911, the Boxster interior looked and felt a bit low quality, but given that it was half the price of the same age 911, I could hardly argue with that.

There's an excellent thread on Pistonheads calle I've just bought some poverty Pork. However, that doesn't really apply to yours!
