It is indeed a beautiful sports purpose car in every way and the pictures are just stunning.

My only surprise is that Jamie thought that 'sand beige' was the ideal background colour for showing off the gorgeous tangerine to its maximum.

Regards
Mike

Great shots Darren, must have been a special experience doing that trip.

Car doesn't look too bad when you're following it on the road either...the driver seems to take the longest possible route to get anywhere for some reason though :P

Glad you're enjoying it so much.

Well, unlike Mr Lipman, us amateur photographers don't have a team of lighting crew, set managers, runners, fluffers and most importantly a valet crew in tow so the car had to stay clean!

You'll be pleased to know its not been washed since!

Cheers,

I finally found up a copy of the magazine while away at the weekend (great issue KS), and just popped back on here to find even more of your brilliant photos of a stunning car. Darren, your car is a real inspiration and it was great to finally see it up close at CLM.

I'm impressed you resisted the temptation to tear up that beach too!

So, Friday I had a call from Jamie Lipman saying he'd been offered a late slot at a photographic studio in Banbury on monday afternoon, the plan was to take a few photos of his 912 and would I fancy tagging along to get an image or two of my car?......

.....being the slow brained individual I am I hesitated, pondering that Monday's are mad busy and also that I already had the shots I needed for CP!......it then dawned on me that here I was, being offered the opportunity to go along to a professional photographic studios, to have photographs taken of my car by one of the worlds top automotive photographers and I was thinking about it!!!!.........DUH!

And what a day it was......first time I had seen Jamie's car finished and boy is it lush!.....

.....there's something so simple, pure and clean about an early modified SWB......very, very cool 8)

Image

......Jamie had warned that we wouldn't have time to do too much with the booked five hour slot!......I thought he was winding me up, I could go through a dozen memory cards in that time but then watching him at work was something else.....it was a full two hours before he took a single shot as he played around with light and then played around some more....and then played around again....and finally played around some more before he finally decided that each and every part of the car was illuminated as desired......no doubt the patience and attention to detail is what sets good photographers apart from really top professionals.

Jamie had warned it might be a bit boring for my (soon to be) 18-year old photography student daughter but the experience and learning curve was simply massive, eye opening and something that'll stick with her for life! 8)

Image

I also learnt a lot. I often joke that I work on the law of averages and take hundreds of shots in the hope that one or two might turn out ok, sadly not far from reality!........I've now decided I really need to learn how my camera functions as well as basic photographic principles.........Jamie opened my eyes to truly study the subject properly and compose things better.......I guess that means fewer photographs from me but hopefully better quality.....

Image

On a beautiful day the cross country run along the B4437 and B4022 was a blast too, obviously only at 6/10ths with my daughter in the car despite her encouragement to go faster but still plenty quick enough to be great fun. A quick stop for a pleasant pub dinner in Burford on the way back capped off a perfect day! :)

Huge thanks to Jamie for the invite, it was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to see the results.

Cheers,

Both cars look great in those photos. Easy to take an early car for granted when you see one every day, but looking at those 2 in a studio and they are really good looking cars

Again huge thanks to Jamie, not only for these stunning images but also for the experience and insight into how top professionals work. A great day out, I'll certainly be trying to replicate how he took his engine shot!

Top bloke Jamie! :thumbleft:
