It is that time of year when projects that are due for completion over the next three months are reaching the final stages of doing so and when the car is almost complete the subject of replacing those original flat seats with supportive alternatives comes to mind. This normally happens at the end of the build, near completion of the project so come April everyone wants seats and demand always outstrips supply. Our seats are handmade in batches so lead times when none are in stock is 6-8 weeks. with backorders soaking up the new arrivals this can extend to 10-12 weeks.

in 15 years of supplying RENNSPORT CLASSICS SEATS we have only had one return due to rodent damage such is the legendary build quality and despite rising costs our seats remain very competitive in the market place and many companies have tried and failed to compete with comparative products especially our reclining models which come complete with headrests and meet European Safety standards of manufacture. Fitting kits are available for 911s and 912s from 1965 to 1994 (including 964) so you can just bolt them in without modification.

Are your seats and those from BF Torino the same items?

Is the Rennsport GT model available in two different widths?
I was certain I had read this in a description of the seat (maybe it was actually a different seat), but now cannot find that on your site, or that of BF Torino... Did I dream that up?

BF Torino are essentially the same seats. 10 years ago we approached BF Torino and encouraged them to develop the seats to be more specifically orientated towards Porsche fitment.

For example the leatherette they used was too coarse a grain the headrest was the wrong shape, so we helped develop a new headrest, designed the Safari Rally seat, Rally R seat and most importantly the Sport seat which is now in its second improved version as a modern alternative to the Recaro Sport seat.

We have different names for our seats a) because for some time our seats were the only seats specially ordered with Porsche fine grain vinyl and our headrests were different. Now Bf Torino have standardised and b) the names were confusing.

RENNSPORT CLASSICS LTD have the UK and Ireland distribution rights and can also supply the rest of the world where there isn't a distributor (almost everywhere) including Germany to our own clients.

BF-Torino do not ship seats their German distributor Gruppe Bielstein does. The owners have been friends for over 20 years. I keep my stock in Germany as it is cheaper to ship than in the UK. Almost half the cost. We supply in Euros the same seats at the same prices as Bielstein. Our sterling price varies with exchange rates. Vat is similar 19% verses 20%.

You should not be able to order seats to be delivered to the UK or Ireland except through us. We offer the same Euro price if you want to pay in Euros so there is no disadvantage and we are the only company offering to take other currencies including obviously Sterling but those prices vary with exchange rates and there are currency exchange costs as we have to pay in Euros !

The GT seat was designed specifically for the 914. It utilises the 914 mounting kit to keep costs down and has a flat headrest. 914 seat sales were price sensitive but now they are not because of the
increase in values of 914s.

The seat also has the mounting points of our other seats and we supply it with a standard Porsche headrest on request so it can be used as a R seat alternative for a 911.

It is not available in different widths.

The RENNSPORT Safari Rally seat is however. The seat base is the same but the S seat is trimmed 1 in narrower at the hips for the narrower gentleman / competition use when one needs a snug fit.

In general if you are 14 stone or lighter a S will fit. Anything above that you need a Safari Rally G seat.

If you are less than 14 stone and wear a coat/thick jumper you may also prefer a G version.

We rarely sell S seats. 2% of orders are for S seats.

RENNSPORT CLASSICS LTD also offer more bespoke versions of the seats, different colours etc. but remember all these seats are hand made and although batches are made it doesn't guarantee availability. Order now for end of March delivery for example.

March, April and May are the busiest months of the year.
