just a quick question really... i have recently bought a set of deep 6's which are soon to be put on my 69 911... i have seen many early cars with bigger tyres on the rear than upfront... i know the majority of time they have larger rear rims but i cant afford a pair of 7's at the mo and was wondering if it would look right and possibly ride better with wider tyres on the rear what size please?? the widest i can go without catching the arches??

also would you advise to use tubes on the deep 6's??

also do some car have bigger profiles on rear?? i have seen many pics and some seem to look like they have a slightly higher profile on the rear giving it a jacked up look... hot rod styley.. i know this is often done in the vw scene..

any advice or preferences to style and stances??

356A rather than 911 but I run 135 Smart treads on the front and 165s on the back - had to trim the bumpstop mounts to get the back down without the drums/tyres dragging... or rather grind off and chuck 'em in the skip... handles like a Zip cart though

You won't get 7s on the back of your car unless you get 7Rs which will cost around £1500 a pair these days. Stick with what Mr Porsche fitted originally, he knew best! If you cant get hold of 185/70s fit 195/65s all round. Your tyre fitter should be the only person to advise you on vales and tubes.

205/60's will also fit all round. 215s will run on full lock at the front and also I think can look a little large on a 6 inch rim.
I will be running 195/65 up front and 215/60s on the rear, but that is on 7R rims.

My car came with tubes - which I renewed at the last tyre change (got them from Vintage Tyres along with the tyres). The deep 6 was supposed to run with tubes (because it hasn't got a saftey bead) . . . but I know many who don't and they've not had any problems. . . . your choice really (the tyre fitters I know don't know a great deal about tubes)
