I've had enough...

It's official – I have had it up to here (above head) with my car. I've tried to get my head round ECUs, MS, EDIS6, ITBs and have got absolutely nowhere. The trouble is, I don't understand anything I'm doing. I have no idea what people are talking about when they talk of PIP and SAW, what triggers what, what polarity is this, what does that connect to... Hopeless.
I really am at my wits end and if it wasn't for the fact that it can't stay indefinitely in somebody's workshop, I'd lock the door and walk away for a month or three. Maybe a year. At least.
I am now happy to pay somebody to come down and spend a day or two sorting it all out. Everything is in place, power gets to places I think it's supposed to but sweet FA happens. Why did I begin this project. Oh why, indeed.
So there you are. I'm prostrating myself before the might that is DDK. Bootsy, I said 'prostrating' not prostituting, so don't get excited. Mind you, if you fixed my car, I might rethink...
Yours,
Mr P•ssed Off
Cornwall (car's in Devon, though...)

Go PMO carbs - they work great.
Old school simplicity.
Best of luck Keith.

I'd have used the Webers that came with the engine but they were so worn and corroded that they weren't good for anything but parts. When I had the chance to use Jenveys, I leapt at it. Just I'm a dimwit when it comes to stuff like this...

we've all been through it Keith .... as I'm sure you have before

Keep the faith , but don't walk away from the car for too long, maybe just long enough to collect your thoughts
I shut the garage door on my 2.4S 6 months ago because I was miffed off with it ....

Have you spoken to Tim Bennett (impmad2000) ?
A bit too far away for him to 'pop down' I would think but worth talking it through to see if he can suggest anything you haven't already thought of/tried.

Yes, Tim and I have been in regular contact a while ago and he's a massive help but the problem is I don't actually really understand anything electrical/electronic. I'm hoping I can bribe him somehow...
Bigger problem is the lack of access to the car (almost three-hour round trip now...).
Annoying thing is, the car is virtually complete, apart from this.

Keith, I have to use up some holiday, week 23rd March. if this is any good, I'll pop down with "stuff" and "things" full of wizardry and electrickery. I have a few days so should be able to get it going. let me know if you can work with these dates.

I really really admire a man who has the balls to say in public (well, on DDK anyway) that he is dazed and confused, in above his head, bolloxed, etc etc. Can't be easy, and if I thought I could be of any use at all I'd be in the car, but I could barely understand your message Keith! Now if you had Webers or PMO's ...
I can therefore only wish you (and hopefully Tim) good luck.
All my restorations (I'm on 911 No. 3 and car No.8 ) have had low points when I wished I hadn't started, but as James says a few days break and a chat with someone more experienced and away you go again. And in the end it really is worth it. I think the outcome is more satisfying if it took some tears to get there.
And think of the story for Classic Porsche ......

Cheers one and all. It's Tim's fault I felt inspired to go the ECU/ITB route, so the least he can do is unravel my problems!
(Tim - didn't mean it...
