914 Distributor woes! Please help!

I have a hopefully, a simple request for help!
My dizzy is loose in the case at the moment and needs to be tightened into position, but before I do that, I need to line it up!
I have a mark on my dizzy, but roughly where should it be pointing?
Or would it be easier to take no.1 spark plug out and shove a long pencil down the hole and turn the car over and find out when the piston is fully up.
If someone could put a photo up of where the mark on the dizzy should be in relation to the engine then I know I shouldn't be too far out.
It's a stock 050 distributor.
