Hmm, the title of our thread says RHD cars.
Interesting as it is the 64 Show car was LHD and stayed in the country for a minimal period.
I don't see its relevance in our list.

Hi Ian,

Yes, you're probably right. I suppose the only saving grace is that at that period a RHD car wasn't available.

I haven't included it on or RHD list, its mentioned below as a significant UK car - I don't mind if it stays or goes? Personally I don't see the relevance to our desire to collate the early RHD cars and their changing specification, however i'll keep it on for a while - it could possibly have it's own thread?

I'm still surprised at the numbers and they're growing by the day.

A point apart but it will be just the thing that will arise....
Which side did the early RHD windscreen wipers park. At what point did they change?

This just something I have noted on several occasion as not being consistent.
But you guys will know - won't you?

The wipers always park on the passenger side regardless of driver position, it's so the wipers didn't obscure the drivers view. They then realised that water runs up the bonnet over the scuttle and up the windscreen on the drivers side, but not on the side in which they were parked, hence the swap. I believe that happened at the end of the 67MY, someone else may be able to confirm.

If it's not consistent it usually means a detail missed following the LHD/RHD conversion.

Time for me to spill the beans.

I know where Chassis number 301930 is. Been sleeping for 20 years. Restored and locked up by owner. I know the son. The guy has polio. RHD and imported with 3 other RHD cars. Light Ivory with original interior. As it came out of factory except for replacement webers. Still has the original steel wheels. Registration FUW 2C. Engine 902114. July 65 imported by AFN. Is it the 3rd oldest 65 as the son told me that?

Don't see many of these guys.... It's still about and engine was rebuilt before it was put to bed. No joke!

Beat that!

HI Lee - the polio story rings a bell with me??? I read somewhere - probably on this forum.

Wow - this is good to find out. I do have this car's info on my database but nothing else. I have it a 6th oldest RHD 911 but some of the cars on my list may not be genuine RHD so could jump the queue. Yes we also know of one of the other 3 that were imported in that batch which is 301929 but are also aware that there is another car somewhere possibly 301928 or 301931.

Well done - any chance of sneaking a few pics- promise we'll all love you forever!! Also if you could kindly ask the owner could we put his name to it - any other info would be terrific to have.

Well done again

Wow, this so good. I said, ages ago, that it is incredible that so many of these very early cars have survived.

Not PCGB talk!!!!

Just great.

If, one day, they all got together then.........................

Ian

Can't wait for the next update Robin

No names my friend at the moment, I know the son, the owner may let me see it soon I hope but I'm away for three weeks in Romania.

I've got FUW2C on my list too, Light Ivory with Black Interior. All the numbers stack up. It came in on the same batch of 5 cars which included my own car and ANW104C. It was originally ordered by someone with the surname Kendrick.

Leaving it with Lee at the moment and hoping that he can come back with more info at some stage in the future. From what I can tell is that no-one has seen this car in 20+ years. I hope it's been well preserved - sounds like it - would dearly love to see it.
