What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Post by Bootsy »

In an unashamedly upfront effort to quell the persistent talk of high prices being achieved / shrewd investment opportunities / the glitterati buying Porsches etc etc etc fade to repeat......

I introduce 'the what did you do in your Porsche today' thread.

A place where you can post a simple anecdote, a picture, a link to your Resto thread, just something you did in your Porsche today. A drive, an acquired part, a thought about a little project - anything, well nearly anything.....

If you post that you worked out how much it's increased in value compared to your index linked gilt edged investment since purchase and are considering selling then find somewhere else to share.

If you grafted hard and got dirty fixing something or just went for a drive for the hell of it then post away and have a hug.

If you picked up your new uber specced Porsche 991 from a dealer and then drove to a swanky eatery where you indulged in gold leafed fed quail with a ginger foam and then wiped your backside on shavings of white truffles then jog on.

A thread about that single thing you did today that reminded you what these cars are actually all about - the grass roots of Porsche fanaticism if you will

Nice idea Bootsy. Its good to remind ourselves why most on here bought these cars - to enjoy then and not just make a heap of cash

i've just put these on - got the other side to do now. Must have added at least 50p to the value of my prize investment

Good move Stuart.

So far today I've packaged up some parts to send to someone and I had a couple of other bits laying around that will fit his car so threw them in gratis hoping they'll help
him with his project.

Spent part of the day finalising a Sketchup 3D design for a panel that will hold displays for dual AFR readings, a timing display and data sockets so I can record the data for analysis at my leisure....plus a couple of power outlets (for a phone charger and the TomTom).

I'd rather be driving the thing, but it's 7,500 miles away!

What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

We salute this thread!

This morning I was up at Crystal Palace Park.

Image

I took our 11 week old boy, to show him a local piece of motorsport history.

Image

Some might think he's too young to take it in. Others might call it brainwashing...
Whatever, I reckon it works: I did the same with our 3 yr old. First trip for her was at 3 weeks old, to Brands Hatch in my old E. And now every weekend she asks "Daddy, can we go for a ride in your racing car?"

Working today

But yesterday went down to DSD to see the mouse nest Dave had found under the engine shroud of my 72TE.
Then took shroud and various other items down to painters.

Thomas thank you SOOOO much for this thread. I've just replied to a topic on impact bumpers where someone was saying price rises are always good for us and we're mad if we think otherwise. If it takes any of us away from the cars we love and/or reduces the number of people on here that we can share the passion with - then it's a bad thing.

Anyhoo, back to the thread.

I popped a wing on to help me make a bracket for it - felt fantastic to remind myself it is actually a car

Image

Also started working on the bracket (that's fits to the rear of the headlamp bowl)

Spent 2 hours poking around an old banger documenting some really dull stuff.

Off to walk the dog now, then another hour when I get back before film night with the kids - "Thor - The Dark World" :)

Had a little poke around on my recent 911 ebay wreck. Was over the moon to find a pattern of this little sill bracket and the correct B-post base for the Oil lines.

Must get out more often.

I've spent the day fitting the 2nd headlamp pod in Arminius's front bumper, popped over to Alans for a coffee and chatted with Bob .....and just started drooling over Sladey's wing treatment. A proper nice car enthusiasts day and no mention of £??? ...brilliant.

I haven't been able to do a lot with the car lately. :(

I've cleared the fallen trees, still got the fence to sort. A result of the recent strong winds.

Image

Then there is the car port roof to sort, this left home during the same windy spell.

Image

I have though found time to buy a tent. Somewhere to sleep on the the CLM trip
