911 Sun Roof seal replacement

Post by Dyno Soar »

So I am about to replace the crappy sunroof seal on my 911, am I right in thinking that I can just unwind the roof and pull the old seal out and snap the new one back in its place?

Hi,

You can do that with the seal that runs on the front edge (which is glued BTW) but to do the seal on the sun roof itself you will need to remove the sun roof from the car to get access. When you fix the new seals in place remember that the top of the seal stands slightly proud. I have seen many seals stuck in flush which then stops the sun roof from shuting properly.

And to remove the sunroof itself simply open it about 4", pull down the lining from the front (clips at both sides), slide this back into the roof space, then undo the small bolts x2 at each side of the bracket holding the roof panel to the 'moving' mechanism. Lift panel out.

Easy!

Top MEN!! Cheers for that.

Now shall I remove the seal for the paintshop and then re-attach the new seal when its back?
