3rd November Autosolo Whale Island ( Portsmouth to you/me )

Post by 912uk »

I have filled out the form and sent in my money

3rd Novemeber Nr Portsmouth.

I have never tried anything like this and I have wanted to do some sort of low level Motorsport/Hill Climb.

£55 for the day and I am guessing it's like the American Auto Cross. I know I will not be very good at it in terms of being totaly new and prob in the wrong car but it's just for fun.

Any one else going.. It is a GRRC event but it's not exclusive so I am told.

I have no idea if the 944 is going to be anygood at this but its that or the Skoda or the Merc or the ..........

Any way if any one else is going to this let me know I can get the Kettle on in the campervan as pictured..

I've done a couple of AutoSolos in the 914/6, it wasn't in the slightest competitive, but extremely good fun. :bounce:
They are an ideal start in motorsport, with no expensive requirements like helmets, overalls, harnesses etc, and as a rule it is not the most powerful car that wins, but the best driven one. Several of the Truro & DMC events have been won by a 1 litre Nissan Micra, despite the presence of Westfields and tuned Toyotas and Hondas.

Have a great time!

You will have blast. I have been doing a few of the Truro DMC Autosolos in my 72. Always great fun and these events are enhanced by the very disparate bunch of competitors and cars that enter IMO. I did it one month in my dad's old Suburu Forester estate which was a hoot.

I've done a few Loughborough one in the imp years ago. Great fun and should be a hoot in a 911. 944 will be great fun too Mark. BTRDA do a series, see http://www.btrda.com/AutoSolo/ .
I think there is no specific license requirement, just join your local motor club and have a go!
