My First Sports Car!

Post by Mike »

Just to help kick off the new section, here's my old Austin Healey Sprite, I use the term 'sport car' loosely obviously!
Check out the wing mirror and those spot light covers, not sure what the bird impression is about though...

cheers, Mike.

One of your internal organs appears to be trying to burst out of your shirt - perhaps that's why you're flapping

I had a round wheel arch midget on a 3 month loan from a friendly lady when I was a student. Marvellous fun!

Sort of

She had me take it in for a service in Manchester which got a bit out of hand and cost about £350 (in 1983). Drove brilliantly after that though.

Well, if we're talking about first sports cars combined with owner's funny poses, here's my contribution ... my '61 TVR Grantura with me in a peculiar pose for some reason - it's not obvious from the B&W picture but I was also sporting a pair of yellow-lens 'sunglasses !!!

Something usually fell off on every journey !

I ran the car for 6 years (for most of which it was my only car) & replaced just about every part of the car - at least once !

I guess this was my first proper(ish) one....

RX7 Mk1

Bought this as a horrible shed. Restored it, subsequently crashed it and used the insurance towards my first 911.......then the slippery slope begun...

I thought he was a post gym session Mike Harding!

Not essentially a sportscar but it was the fastest thing in the town for a while and certainly the quickest vehicle we had owned up to that point.

Embarrassed a lot of bigger stuff with this

My first sports car also - TEA 827G an Austin Healey Sprite in black , knock on wires , twin spot lights mounted centrally.
Took it to Cornwall on a pre-marital camping holiday and one of the spring hangers collapsed.
A local garage repaired it "next day". Thems wuz the days
