Cookie cutter wheels
Hi Guys
New to your site and I was wondering if you could help with a bit of information, I am looking at a 1975 911S with a view to purchase and light restoration but it has what I would call "cookie cutter wheels" whereas I would have expected Fuchs; am I correct in thinking this or were the Fuchs wheels superseded by '75?
Thanks in anticipation
John

Re: Cookie cutter wheels
You could have either in 75, Fuchs were only standard on the 2.7 Carrera.
I love cookies on impact bumper cars, one day they will look cool on 2.4s too, but not yet.

For the UK market the 1974 and 1975 911S was fitted as standard with M400 6x15 Fuchs wheels, only the base 911 had cookie cutters.
The USA had cookie cutters on the 911S, I'm not certain about other countries.
So depends on where the car was originaly sold.

Re: Cookie cutter wheels
Not sure if you are looking at a left or right hand drive car, but I have Porsche 911 specification from 1975 for the Britsh market.
It says 911S and Carrera have forged alloy wheels ( presume Fuchs ). The standard 911 has cast alloys ( presume cookie cutters )
The colour brochure is however made for the international market.
I would assume that the red 911 ( trendy dude with flares ) is an 'S' with the Fuchs and the Carrera to the right has the wider 7" Fuchs rear wheels.
If this is the case it looks like the 911S was de chromed and had colour coded headlight trim ?

Re: Cookie cutter wheels
Richard,
The bottom picture is a Carrera as it has wide arches and 7" wide Fuchs at the back. The Carrera came as standard with black trim and body coloured headlamp rings for 1975 model year ('74 model year had chrome headlamp rings even with black trim) The 911S came with chrome trim as the standard.

It is a RHD car so thank you for the information. I freely admit that I am a bit green on the specs of the 911 series but it is a car that I have always wanted so have decided to treat myself while I am still able to get in and out of such as car!
