Squeaky 'orrible wiper (motor?)

Post by MdR »

Ok I can't stop my wipers from squeaking. I've pulled the whole mechanism out of the car, cleaned & greased it. I've partially dismantled the motor & greased the bits that look like they need it (bushing, shaft etc.) I stripped out the worm & cog, cleaned & re-greased.
AND THE DAMN THING STILL SOUNDS LIKE 400 CANARIES!
I read thru the Haynes manual last night & in the cause/effects/remedies bit it says squeaky wiper motor = can be too large a backlash = adjust. Nowhere does it give the backlash specs/tolerances.
I didn't measure the backlash in my motor but it was quite large - say almost 10mm!
Help (please) it's driving me mad.
Failing that anyone got a spare motor I can purchase?

Replace or renew as required?! Thanks for trying.

Am considering submerging dashboard in PlusGas.
