Machinist to bore and hone some 94mm cylinders to 95mm

Post by barn914 »

For 914 /T4 engine.

I have a set of 94mm barrels and 95mm pistons, I need the barrels bored out and honed to suit the pistons, I have the clearance spec.

Thanks

As I recall, the cylinders have to be clamped between plates just as if they were installed between the case and heads while they are being machined.

HI barn914
you will need the find a old type bike shop or a old type engineering shop with the old type equipment that have the tooling to bore single cylinders, if not give me a ring.

Hi, as Mike says its an "old" style job. If the barrels are plated alloy its a bit more complicated but I don't know much about 914 motors.

I have a good contact on the South Coast for bore and hone on single iron barrels if that suits you geographicaly.

Give mike a call @ http://saundersmotorworks.com/ 023 8081 2101

They are old school so should be able to help you out.

If it's a T engine it should be all cast iorn.

They are cast iron cylinders.

Plenty of type4 specialists around who can help.

Depending on what is convenient either:

Stateside tuning,
L.A.performance,
Or Laurie Pettit

Should be about to help (a google will get contact details for each)
To name the first three that came to mind (plenty others too)
