The mid-70s 2.7s are often over looked, but we think they're lovely cars. The narrow shell, lack of spoilers and bright window frames lend them a more classic look than the later SCs and 3.2s and prices haven't yet reached levels that the pre-74 cars have, making them a very decent value entry into 911 ownership.

They really do make a perfect, affordable, retro-classic 911.

This car was completely restored in 2002, with a photographic record, and remains in excellent order throughout, devoid of the usual hideous rot that so blights many of the cars of this age. The fantastic colour scheme gives it absoutely period perfect looks inside and out.

The original 165bhp 2.7 engine has been replaced by the sweet, free revving 3.0 unit from an SC (one of our favourite engines) and it exhales through twin big bore exhausts giving the car a brilliantly rorty engine note and encouraging gratuitous throttle-blips on down changes.

As well as the mini-race-car soundtrack, it also handles like one. The suspension has been wound down and set up by Specialist Cars of Malton and the car fitted with 7" wide Minilite alloys and sticky tyres.

The aggressive stance, period look and cracking drive of this car make it one of the most pleasing we've had in stock for a while. There are so many poor 2.7s out there that when little cars like this sneak up on you and steal your heart it's somehow doubly charming.

As you can probably tell, we rather like this little retro rocket.

It comes with a nice history file including lots of photos of the restoration and the original sill covers, which we can refit if desired.
