Is this the going rate for a good lightweight?
Dougie.

Dougie

As with most RS's it depends on provenance, history, condition etc.

A lightweight was recently on ebay and attracted no bids at $175000

I also think the difference between advertised prices and what actually changes hands is widening.

You could take a look at Maxted Page for several RS's for sale although you will have to contact them as most are advertised as POA

Regards
Mike

Fantasy Junction's prices are always at the very top of the market ...

However, at that price I would expect it to have the correct wheels (they're later ones), correct speedo (that's a later one), etc ...

I would also question the hinged rear windows, glove compartement lid, gear knob and possible passenger sun visor (just visible?) if it were a true lightweight.

Mike

Had a rethink and the glove box lid is ok on a 471.

Ok Andy, I see you are right on the windows. My mistake. Just gobsmacked at the price. Is that a current advert?

Mike

Thanks for your excellent advice Brendan. I have been thinking the same lately as I have been stuck inside just reading, reading, reading.....so after you popped up with your comment last night I decided to follow your advice so, today, I have enrolled in the early 911 pliers class which should get me out one night a week for the next ten weeks. It looks really interesting and the first two hour class is going to be based on discussing the rather interesting thread which popped up on the early S registry recently.

I can't believe we have not brought this up on DDK before. It's such an important topic. I guarantee you don't have the correct 69 pliers in your toolkit Bren.

This course neatly dovetails into Andy's 'steering wheel part number course' which starts in November. This will mean living away from home for a week or two but it's worth it. I will take an A4 pad to take notes.

Thanks for geeing me into action. Appreciate it buddy.

Regards
Mike
