European Petrol

Post by 58A - 71E »

I have been looking into the cost of go-go juice over in France before we depart on our jollies next week (see http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/) and wondered why the 95RON code for unleaded was different from that on the pumps I used at the BP garage this morning.
After a bit of googling it suggests that SP95/E10 has a 10% ethanol mix to it
Questions:
Is this now the only type of unleaded available in France or can you buy this and "regular" unleaded?
Will an early 911 run on this stuff?
Are different grades of fuel being offered in different countries than the usual 95 and "super" we have here?
OR
Is this the same stuff we have here and I just didnt know before?

In Luxembourg they have 95 and 98RON and a few garages have LPG (or GPL as they call it here) - I think you have 97RON for Super in the UK. I never really pay attention when filling up in Belgium, Germany, or France, because I rarely fill up there - they're all so expensive in comparison to Luxembourg, so I can't give you any info on them. Sorry.
