Just got back from 5 days in Edinburgh with Juliet on the occasion of our 10th wedding anniversary! ..and it only feels like 15!

I'm currently recovering after 5 hours wrestling the slippery eel that is an early 911 at speed on a severely windy wet motorway. Joy :)

However the 55 miles along the A701 was great, if also a little damp!

Can't recommend the city enough, stay right in the middle like we did and you don't have to touch the car the entire stay.

This was the view from our window:

the A701 is quite a nice drive is'nt it :) Next time take a mountian bike with you & stop at Glentress just outside Peebles, its one of the best man-made routes in the country

i love it to
took the missus a couple of weekends ago

if you go again, take a suite at the witchery by the tower.
its not cheap but it is the most amazing hotel (i say hotel but they only have 7 suites)

we took the guardroom suite for the weekend.

be sure to try the restaurant one night also.

fantastic city.

just driven the Moffat to Peebles road again today in both directions :) .... it is a fantastic road to 'press on' , even in the god awful car the Audi garage lent me today ( a4 tdi 140bhp with a crappy auto box ) ......... must say a HUGE thankyou to the Discovery driver who gave me a little flash to warn me of a mobile Speed Camera van parked at the end of the longest straight & only safe place to overtake  There was no way he was there to improve safety ....... just to collect cash & points

Hi Mike,

Whilst you are in town I can highly recommend this restaurant for one of your evenings:

http://redwood-restaurant.co.uk/default.aspx

Book ahead especially for the weekends, great little place (only about 10 tables) tucked out of the way and the best food I have eaten at any price :) together with great service.

Also if you are feeling flush:

http://www.wedgewoodtherestaurant.co.uk/

Twice the price of Redwood, but has all the extras to almost justify it!

Enjoy yourself! :)
