OT: Advice on public liability (not driving related)

Anyone had experience with personal injury claims?

I was cycling home from work and a runner ran straight into the road in front of me.
We collided and both went down.
He admitted he had not looked to check for oncoming traffic, and that it was his fault.
The poor guy lost a tooth, and is now claiming on his insurance.
I have no public liability insurance. :?

Don't fancy getting screwed by his insurers. PMs of advice welcomed...

Does a household policy not cover you for this sort of thing?

Good ideas guys, thanks.
I'll check my other policies to see if I get cover.

How come you think you will have to pay if he admitted it was not your fault. Or has he now changed his story?

Ian.

He has not changed his story, but I'm being careful (sorry to stereotype, but he is an American...)
He admitted fault at the scene, but maybe he was in shock and confused etc.

Turns out I have do have cover - through my household contents. Thanks for the suggestion Ralph.
