epoxy bare metal primer

Ive always used 2k etch on bare metal in the past but I have heard of people using epoxy primers. mainley in the US. It is well rated for its anti corrosion properties and adhesion and was wondering if anyone on here had any opinions on it. or products they had used, suppliers etc

Hi Jay, how are you ? so are you close to paint on the 356 ?
I'll ask the guys who paint our shells at work, I'm sure they will have experience of these types of primer.

cheers for that nick, I hope to get it ready for paint this summer now that the metal work is done. I'm suprised i've had no replys on this. I'm really interested to know what systems of paint other people have used.

I really like epoxy primers, I strongly recommend them if you want very long lasting protection. They are slower to use (so bodyshops don't like them that much as you make less £££
) but if you want the best protection, thats your choice. Due to new regulations selections is more limited but you still get them. But make sure metal underneath is very clean and rust free, and you get thick enough layers of epoxy to get good protection.
(and you can still use 2k acid etch underneath if you want)
